NEC Display Solutions of America has received FDA clearance for the MultiSync MD302C4 LCD, a 30-inch widescreen display for diagnostic review. The 4.0-megapixel screen is the first in the MultiSync series with GB-R LED backlight, which consumes up to 44% less power than other technologies.

Front sensors can detect human presence, automatically dimming the screen to conserve power and preserve the display life, while a Quick QA function allows rapid DICOM conformance checks. Automatically calibrated to the DICOM scale for luminance, the monitor includes a 1000:1 contrast ratio and is calibrated to a brightness of 180 cd/m2. When used with a 10-bit DisplayPort or HDMI connection, the 14-bit lookup table provides 1,024 shades of gray out of a palette of 4,096 for crisp, finely detailed rendering.

The ergonomically designed monitor includes height-adjust, swivel, tilt, and pivot functions, and stands 150 mm in landscape orientation and 103 mm in portrait. Integrated three-port USB 2.0 hub with DisplaySync Pro connects two computers to up to three peripherals. DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, DVI-D, and HDMI inputs are also available.
