May 29, 2007—Congress has declared the week beginning June 3 "Molecular Imaging Week," which coincides with the 54th annual meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), Reston, Va, in Washington, DC. In addition, the District of Columbia sent SNM a "letter of welcome" for holding the world’s largest molecular imaging event in the city.
In a statement in the Congressional Record, Rep. James P. Moran (D-Va) said, "Molecular imaging and therapy procedures provide safe, painless and cost-effective techniques to image the body and treat disease . . . join me in supporting policies that will continue to keep our nation on the cutting edge of molecular imaging research."
Molecular Imaging Week is intended to raise awareness of the emerging science.
