Anthro Corp, of Tualatin, Ore, has introduced Zido, a compact cart that is ready to customize for medical equipment, PACS, or EMR. Facilitating mobility, the cart features 4-inch casters that enable it to move from room to room and over elevator thresholds. It is available in various widths and heights, designed for the ultimate flexibility in a small space. Users can decide on a basic frame with a height of 31 inches, 35 inches, or 40 inches; the 66-inch-high Pole Cart; or a height-adjustable cart. Customers also have a choice of a 22-inch-wide by 17-inch-deep shelf, or a 25-inch-wide by 20.5-inch-deep shelf. Zido shelves have a weight capacity of 50 pounds, and the entire cart has a 150-pound overall weight limit.

DexTop Mammography Workstation from Dexela Ltd

Designed from the ground up in conjunction with radiologists, the DexTop Mammography Workstation from London-based Dexela Ltd is a flexible hanging protocol system that is complemented with a flexible worklist creation system. To ensure that the correct hanging protocol is assigned, cases can be grouped for reading and categorized. A DICOM-compliant communication with the PACS system handles access to patients’ prior images, and images can be preloaded or read straight from their location. According to the company, reading workflow has been designed to maximize the efficiency of the radiologist in both the 2D mammography and the planar imaging. Features also include HIPAA-compliant authenticated access to all aspects of the workstation, support for double reading workflow including anonymous second reading, one button navigation to next hanging, export of images to media, and DICOM printing. Atlantis 018 Peripheral Imaging Catheter from Boston Scientific

Available immediately in the United States is a product designed for small vessel peripheral imaging by Boston Scientific Corp, of Natick, Mass. The Atlantis 018 Peripheral Imaging Catheter delivers the highest frequency peripheral catheter on the market, according to the company, and it brings existing 40 MHz coronary standard imaging resolution to peripheral interventions. Previously, an IVUS catheter was not available for peripheral vessels smaller than 8 mm. By introducing the smaller size, Boston Scientific strives to address a broader range of small peripheral vessels.

Gemini DR Flat Panel from Del Medical

Del Global Technologies Corp, of Franklin Park, Ill, recently signed an exclusive agreement with New Medical Imaging (NMI), of Taiwan, to sell NMI’s Gemini family of full-field, portable DR flat panels in the Americas. The panels can be integrated into Del’s tables, which allows existing customers to upgrade or field retrofit their digital imaging systems.

The Gemini products are DICOM compatible, lightweight, and portable. According to Del, sharp, clear images appear on the screen in a matter of seconds, resulting in significant workflow benefits. The panels also facilitate multiple applications and ensure patient comfort and safety. The Gemini 1000, Gemini 1400, and Gemini 1700 models are available immediately through a select Del dealer network.

Medix 1700SF from Tangent

Designed to withstand a harsh patient care environment, the Medix 1700SF from Tangent Inc, Burlingame, Calif, is a 15.2-pound, 17-inch, all-in-one, point-of-care PC that meets all certifications for patient safety. The thin-silhouette touch-screen PC features UL6061-1 and EN60601-1 certification for patient safety and allows safe placement close to the patient in an ER or OR application, as well as a bedside terminal. Furthermore, its ultralow power consumption and 12 VDC operation make it ideal for nursing carts and all point-of-care locations. Environmentally and patient friendly, the fanless technology is equipped with an antibacterial plastic housing and an IP65 rating for dust-free and waterproof operation. Cad-Cam Services Inc, Celina, Tex, recently unveiled an online x-ray tool called Radiology Services Online, offering a comprehensive EMR system that provides a secure hosting service to track, monitor, and verify the x-ray process. The Web-based technology helps maintain patient information, stores digital images, creates radiology reports, and manages online accounting functions like billing and payment. Fully HIPAA-compliant, with multiple layers of security protection, the online tool allows radiologists to view images on anything with Web access, such as a full-blown PACS, a PC, or a PDA. The radiologist’s diagnosis is converted into an electronic report that is permanently attached to the patient record and can be Web accessed, faxed, or e-mailed. According to the company, the radiology study device addresses the unique demands of radiology clinics, while also taking care of office management and billing software needs.
