At the recent Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting in Long Beach, Calif, Agfa Healthcare debuted its ICIS Mobile and Web Capture technology, enabling physicians and patients to securely upload medical images from a mobile device to an electronic health record. The technology is intended to improve engagement among physicians and to allow patients to remain invested in the care management process.
“Mobile technology is now widespread within the healthcare space with physicians frequently using their mobile phones or tablets to record patient data and connect with the EHR,” said Lenny J. Reznik, director of enterprise imaging and information solutions for Agfa HealthCare North America. “ICIS’s new mobile and web capture technology is designed to leverage this trend to improve the delivery of care and reduce cost by uniting the convenience and immediacy of mobile computing with the power of the ICIS enterprise imaging platform. ICIS’s easy-to-use mobile interface also empowers patients to become involved in their medical care—allowing them to take ‘medical selfies’ as needed, reducing unnecessary and costly visits.
The technology builds on Agfa’s enterprise imaging platform ICIS and the company’s web-based universal viewer ICIS View to enhance viewing, sharing, and integration across mobile platforms. The system provides secure access to clinicians, referring physicians, and patients via an intuitive, interoperable interface.
