ACR receives Accreditation with Commendation for 6 years from ACCME for CME provision
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has been awarded Accreditation with Commendation for six years as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
Accreditation with Commendation is awarded to providers that demonstrate exemplary performance, including demonstrated compliance with all core accreditation criteria and eight commendation criteria.
This designation reportedly recognizes the achievements of organizations that advance interprofessional collaborative practice, address public health priorities, create behavioral change, show leadership, leverage educational technology, and demonstrate the impact of education on healthcare professionals and patients.
“Achieving the highest level of CME accreditation is a testament to the medical community and our members that the ACR is dedicated to providing radiologists with the best possible CME opportunities to promote quality improvement,” commented William Thorwarth Jr, MD, FACR, CEO of ACR.
ACCME System accreditation is said to assure the medical community and the public that ACR delivers education that is: relevant to clinicians’ needs; evidence-based; evaluated for effectiveness; and independent of commercial influence.
According to the ACR, it has been accredited by ACCME for more than 30 years. In 2022, ACR offered 556 accredited activities and 3,700 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. Approximately 524,000 learners completed ACR activities in 2022.

ACCME accreditation is reportedly a voluntary, self-regulatory system for evaluating institutions’ CME programs according to standards that reflect the values of the educator community.
