Advanced Interventional Suites at the New Facility
Carilion’s new facility will feature 11 Philips interventional suites for treating complex cardiovascular conditions. The Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute will move to this facility, offering heart, lung, and vascular services, including inpatient care, cardiovascular operating rooms, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology labs. Carilion’s hospital network also includes primary and specialty physician practices.
Regional Referral Center and Level 1 Trauma Facility
Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital serves as the major referral center and the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the region, with hybrid operating rooms that are unique in Southwest Virginia. The new Philips solutions will support medical staff in managing complex cases that may not be addressed at nearby facilities.
“At Carilion Clinic, we are committed to improving the health of the communities we serve. We know that collaboration is an essential component to realizing this vision,” said Marguerite Underwood, vice president for the Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute. “Working with Philips ensures that we will be able to set the standard in cardiovascular care, not only today, but well into the future.”

A service program will help manage maintenance and software updates, and Carilion will provide ongoing clinical education for its staff.
“For many years, Carilion has been recognized for delivering exceptional cardiac care. Maintaining the highest standard of care means continuous growth and innovation, making healthcare delivery more efficient and effective,” says Jeff DiLullo, chief region leader, Philips North America. “The Crystal Spring Tower expansion illustrates Carilion’s commitment to its staff and patients, giving clinicians access to world-class technology while providing a level of care not available anywhere else in the region.”
