Toshiba Medical Systems Corp has announced that through its newly formed, wholly-owned subsidiary, Toshiba Medical Visualization Systems Europe, the company has entered into an agreement to acquire the Advanced Visualization Imaging System Division of Barco, Edinburgh, Scotland.
This acquisition allows for the in-house development of 3D volume rendering and advanced visualization capabilities for all Toshiba modalities.
Known as Voxar before Barco’s purchase of it in 2004, AVIS provides advanced visualization solutions for PACS. For the past 10 years, Toshiba has utilized Voxar 3D visualization core software for its systems.
TMVS aims to serve as the foundation of a world-class medical research and development center in Europe.
