The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Radiological and Diagnostic Imaging Society of São Paulo (SPR) have agreed to continue their partnership for the joint planning of Jornada Paulista de Radiologia (JPR) in 2026, 2028, and 2030.

JPR is the leading medical imaging meeting in Latin America and the fourth largest in the world. The event attracts thousands of participants. To advance radiologic science and education internationally, RSNA and SPR have worked together to plan and implement JPR meetings biennially since 2014.

International Knowledge Exchange

“RSNA is proud to continue our work with our colleagues at SPR to deliver high-quality international radiology research and education to JPR attendees,” said RSNA President Curtis P. Langlotz, M.D., Ph.D. “Through this successful collaboration, we have been able to build on the unique strengths of our organizations to build a synergistic meeting program that reflects our shared goal of promoting excellence in radiology and patient care.”

Both RSNA and SPR value international alliances to foster interaction and knowledge exchange between radiologists and professionals from around the world. Collaborating on large scientific meetings like JPR is an important initiative in establishing lasting global connections.

“SPR has organized itself over the years to become a reference society in continuing education. Over its more than 50 years, the last decade seems to be when all this planning came to fruition. And the big change that promoted this was the partnership with RSNA,” said SPR President Nelson Caserta, M.D. “SPR’s mission became easier to achieve, as we were able to get closer to societies on our South American continent and largely transfer this learning, building bridges.”

RSNA and SPR Unite for JPR Session Planning

For the upcoming JPR meetings, SPR and RSNA will work together to organize the meeting structure and program content, develop plenary sessions and identify speakers. RSNA will also assist in creating materials and courses that may not be otherwise offered at JPR.

“Partnerships like this allow us to bring the best that both of our societies have to offer,” said Jorge A. Soto, M.D., RSNA Board Liaison for International Affairs. “By enlisting the expertise of international speakers and mining a greater variety of educational resources and opportunities, we can provide world-class content to meeting attendees and continue to grow our specialty in a rapidly changing global health care environment. I look forward to our future endeavors with SPR.”

10 Years of Building Connections

Through the years, RSNA has increasingly become a global organization, with members from more than 150 countries around the world, including nearly 2,200 members from South America.

“Our partnership was established when the relationship between medical and international societies did not have the dimension it currently has. We have become stronger and increasingly productive,” said SPR Scientific Director Antonio Rocha, M.D.

“Now, at JPR 2024, we are thrilled. As we celebrate 10 years of this partnership, we are also pleased it has been renewed. The next JPR editions will have greater brilliance and scientific quality,” said SPR Director of Institutional Representation Renato Mendonça, M.D.

JPR 2024, co-sponsored by RSNA and SPR, was held May 2 to 5 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo. To celebrate the ongoing partnership between SPR and RSNA, the JPR 2024 theme was “SPR and RSNA—10 years building connections at JPR.”
