The company has entered a definitive agreement to acquire exclusive rights to Augmedics’ CT-to-fluoroscopy technology for spine applications.

VB Spine has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the exclusive rights to Augmedics’ CT-to-fluoroscopy technology for spine applications, according to a company press release.

The acquisition builds on the company’s recent investments, including the acquisition of exclusive rights to the xvision Spine System platform in April. The CT-to-fluoroscopy technology allows surgeons to register a patient’s preoperative CT scan using standard fluoroscopic imaging. According to VB Spine, this capability may eliminate the need for intraoperative CT or 3D imaging systems during spine procedures.

By expanding workflow flexibility and reducing the need for additional imaging, the technology aims to make augmented reality navigation more accessible across a wider range of surgical settings, facilities, and clinical environments.

“The addition of CT-Fluoro technology for spine applications will be an important step forward for the xvision platform because it provides surgeons with greater flexibility in how they utilize navigation,” says Marc Viscogliosi, co-CEO of VB Spine, in a release.

Viscogliosi also says the company’s goal is to remove barriers that prevent surgeons from accessing technologies that improve patient care and procedural efficiency. The addition of the technology is intended to strengthen the existing ecosystem and simplify the adoption of enabling technologies while keeping patient outcomes at the center of innovation, according to the company.

Following the closing of the transaction, VB Spine intends to make the technology available as part of its offerings for spine procedures. The transaction is subject to regulatory requirements and customary closing conditions. The companies did not disclose the terms of the agreement.
