Discovering breast cancer early is the goal of every screening program around the world. Symptomatic and asymptomatic women in Europe—particularly those with dense breasts—now have better odds of being diagnosed at the earliest possible moment, making treatment easier and more effective.

U-Systems’ somo•v automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) system recently received a CE clearance from the European Union for use as an adjunct to traditional mammography.

While the ABUS system isn’t designed to replace traditional mammography, as an adjunct system, it will help increase detection, according to CEO Ron Ho, in a U-Systems press release. “We have strong scientific evidence that for women with dense breast tissue, supplementing mammograms with somo•v ABUS can substantially increase breast cancer detection,” he said.
