Carestream Health, Rochester, NY, announced that it is raising its prices on all imaging films and related supplies. The price increases are effective worldwide, not just in the United States.
Carestream said in its press announcement that the cause of the increase is due to significant price increases of commodities such as silver, polyester, oil and electricity, all of which are required to produce and ship imaging films and supplies. The company noted that silver prices, in particular, had increased 70% in the last 18 months.
Additionally, transportation costs due to high oil prices, have also contributed to the increases.
