Denmark-based BK Medical, a wholly owned subsidiary of Analogic Corp, announced the American-market premiere of the Flex Focus ultrasound scanner at the American Urological Association annual meeting in Chicago.

The latest in the Focus-family series of ultrasound scanners, the new Flex Focus scanner features a 19” LCD high-definition monitor that houses the actual scanning unit. Addressing the need for mobility, Flex Focus can be docked in several different configurations. Furthermore, its 14 inch (35cm) width enables it to fit into virtually all clinical settings, even smaller, private practice offices.

Other features include a 19” LCD monitor that can be positioned vertically on the scanning unit, which allows users to view two large biplane images simultaneously without compromising ultrasound image size. Moreover, the Flex Focus keyboard is sealed and smooth with no rough edges or grooves, a design component that allows for easy cleaning and disinfection.

“Many customers today are interested in laptop scanners, and assume they have to make system compromises if they decide to purchase a mobile system,” said Michael Brock, President and CEO of BK Medical. “The Flex Focus addresses this market need. With the Flex Focus, customers do not need to compromise – they get a real, full-size scanner with superior image quality in a small, mobile system.”
