Medical device manufacturer Boston Scientific Corporation, of Natick, Mass., and MRI solutions provider Surgi-Vision, Inc., of Baltimore, today announced a licensing and development arrangement for magnetic resonance imaging-safe technology.

Addressing a clinical need for MRI-safe cardiac devices, the arrangement allows Boston Scientific access to Surgi-Vision’s development capabilities and the acquisition of a license to Surgi-Vision’s intellectual property for potential use in its implantable cardiac devices.

The two companies will work jointly to develop a commercial application of Surgi-Vision’s technology in the field of cardiac rhythm management devices.

In December 2005, Boston Scientific and Surgi-Vision entered into a separate licensing and development agreement, in the area of neuromodulation.
