AlluraClarity NeuroSuite from Philips

Royal Philips recently joined with Image Stream Medical (ISM) to offer complete integration solutions and associated consultancy services, which will complement Philips’ image-guided solutions as well as its clinical informatics and services. Image-guided minimally invasive therapies are a growing trend that allows healthcare providers to optimally perform procedures.

ISM provides advanced solutions to control, route, capture, and manage data and images used in procedural environments, such as hybrid suites and interventional labs. The combined offering will be available in the United States beginning in January.

“Integrated video and live streaming capabilities have become increasingly critical to connecting clinicians and enabling remote collaboration, in both interventional and hybrid environments,” said Bert van Meurs, general manager, Image-Guided Therapy at Philips. “With a similar consultative approach to customer engagements, the partnership with ISM is a natural extension of our current image-guided minimally invasive therapy offering. This addition further reinforces our commitment to connecting care across the health continuum.”

Image-guided minimally invasive therapies are complex and technically challenging, especially those performed in the hybrid suite. But they provide critical benefits such as reduced patient trauma, shorter healthcare recovery times, and shorter hospital stays—resulting in lower costs. Comprehensive integration of real-time information from relevant technologies both in and out of the lab makes these procedures more effective and easier to perform.

“ISM is pleased to enter into this partnership with Philips in the image-guided therapy field, a natural extension of our perioperative solution,” said Eddie Mitchell, CEO, ISM. “ISM provides a workflow-centered platform for integrating surgical and procedural video information across the hospital enterprise, facilitating efficiency, teamwork, collaboration, and learning. The complexity of the hybrid suite demands these capabilities. By partnering with Philips, ISM solutions will bring value not only to Philips’ hybrid suite customers, but also to its interventional lab customers.”

ISM’s most recent integrated solution offering, EasySuiteTM, is designed to enhance operating room, hybrid suite, and interventional lab flexibility, as well as staff satisfaction and patient safety. It enables secure and easy sharing and archiving of data including data contained in electronic medical records.

By focusing on image-guided therapies, Philips maintains the company’s holistic approach to delivering care across the health continuum, from healthy living and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and home care.

Philips Showcases Newest Interventional Radiology Suites

In other Philips news, the company recently showcased its upgraded AlluraClarity interventional x-ray suites at RSNA 2014. The suites, tailored to neurology (NeuroSuite), oncology (OncoSuite), and the hybrid operating room (Hybrid Suite), are each customized with new hardware, software, workflow, and efficiency components to optimize the patient/clinician experience and support higher room utilization. The three suites—which enable relevant clinical value to be delivered where it is most needed—can increase revenue by extending the procedural mix to treat a wider range of patients while utilizing limited resources.

The suites couple precise image quality and dose management advances with specific interventional tools to address the changing healthcare environment. Now clinicians can deliver more effective, efficient, and reproducible treatment for a full range of clinical procedures at low dose levels.

NeuroSuite brings together 20-inch and 15-inch flat detectors with 3D tools to guide devices. Users can tuck the small detector past the shoulder right up next to the head for a short source to image-receptor distance, enhanced image quality, and low dose.

OncoSuite combines tools applicable to the expanding field of interventional oncology. Users get the most recent 3D image support for transarterial (eg, TACE) and percutaneous interventions.

Hybrid Suite offers FlexMove to help meet the demands of a hybrid operating room by offering increased flexibility that supports a full range of procedures, ranging from minimally invasive to open surgery. The ceiling-mounted C-arm can be moved easily. Suite deployment also includes either a Philips Xper Table or the Maquet Magnus table system.

By having access to multi-modality images at the point of treatment, clinicians can feel confident in their diagnosis. Live Image Guidance, included with each suite, features simplified procedures to support efficient clinical workflow. Ultimately, combining disease-centric tools, patient data, and procedural protocols in a single suite optimizes the user experience.
