The MD210C3 display’s integrated three-color sensor receives more light information than standard sensors.
NEC Display Solutions of America announced FDA 510(k) market clearance of the new MD210C3 LCD diagnostic monitor. This new display adds a more affordable high-quality option to the company’s MultiSync MD Series portfolio.
This 21-inch, 3-megapixel, 8-bit color monitor is designed to meet the needs of healthcare facilities that use Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) technology in diagnostic imaging. “This is a new addition to our lineup,” explained Art Marshall, product manager for professional desktop and medical displays at NEC Display Solutions. “It gives us an opportunity to offer a cost-effective 3-megapixel option to customers who don’t need 10-bit grayscale performance. With the MD210C3, we can provide quality imaging and 8-bit grayscale at a more affordable price.”
The display’s integrated three-color sensor receives more light information than standard sensors, for greater accuracy and image stability. Auto luminance control with backlight stabilization provides consistent brightness and color.
With out-of-the-box calibration to the DICOM grayscale display function for luminance, the display utilizes GammaComp MD software to ensure consistent image quality and offers quick QA with a unique one-button check of DICOM conformance. “With the on-screen results, you can tell very quickly how accurate the display is, and that it’s ready for use,” said Marshall.
The front of the display includes a human sensor that reduces LCD brightness when the user is not present. “That saves the backlight,” said Marshall. “As soon as the user returns, the display goes back on and is diagnostic-capable. That extends the life of the display, and it’s a completely unique feature in the MD Series.” In addition, the display has a built-in ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display’s brightness based on existing lighting conditions, which reduces energy consumption.
The MD210C3’s all-digital connectors, including DisplayPort, DVI, and two-port USB hub, enable advanced connectivity for any type of workstation.
NEC featured this new addition to its MultiSync Series at the Radiological Society of North America’s Annual Meeting 2014. Providers responded to the display’s affordability. “We got a lot of interest in the performance for the price point,” Marshall observed. “It’s a great option for customers who are looking at a higher image quality option that fits within their budget.”
