The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) recently traveled to Brazil to discuss regulatory and commercial priorities for the medical imaging and radiation therapy industries there, the alliance announced. MITA successfully completed a week of meetings with Brazilian regulators, health officials, and industry stakeholders.

“The market for medical imaging and radiation therapy technology in Brazil has grown rapidly over the past decade” said Gail Rodriguez, executive director of MITA. “The relationships we are establishing will pave the way for open communication between MITA, our member companies, and Brazilian regulatory agencies, ultimately increasing patient access to the most innovative medical technologies.”

While several medical device industry groups currently exist in the country, none devote themselves solely to the medical imaging and radiation therapy industries. MITA member associations have been establishing and growing their presence in Brazil over the last several years, in line with the country’s trend toward a maturing diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy equipment market.
