Advanced Data Systems Corporation (ADS) and Merge Healthcare are partnering to integrate Merge’s iConnect network with the ADS MedicsRIS. The collaboration will allow referring physicians for ADS’ radiology clients to view exam results, images, and patient information transmitted from the MedicsRIS.
“Traditional methods of information delivery between our radiology clients and their referring physicians will be dramatically improved with the integration of MedicsRIS and Merge’s iConnect Network, enabling referring physicians to receive radiology reports and patient images directly into the referring physicians’ EHRs, regardless of which EHRs they use,” said David Barizillai, president of ADS. “The transmitting and sharing of these studies to caregivers is revolutionized using the iConnect Network. This type of technology benefits everyone including those who are the most important: the patients themselves.”
The venture is intended to improve interoperability between radiologists and providers, reducing the need for duplicate procedures and unnecessary radiation exposure while cutting costs. It will also enable referring physicians to meet Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements by allowing them to import real-time patient diagnostic information into their electronic health record.
