Massachusetts General Hospital has selected the eHealth Connect Referral Pathways solution from eHealth Technologies to streamline its external medical record and image collection, communicate with referring physicians, and improve visibility of the full continuity of care lifecycle for their patients.

“We are thrilled to empower such a gold standard care delivery organization as Massachusetts General Hospital with our eHealth Connect Referral Pathways solution,” said Ken Rosenfeld, founder and CEO of eHealth Technologies. “Massachusetts General Hospitals’ clinicians can optimize their clinical workflow, experiencing reduced workloads, and have the ability to communicate directly with their referring network. Assuring that physicians have the right information to treat patients, right when it is needed, is a critical aspect of delivering the world-class care that is associated with Massachusetts General Hospital.”

The system’s web-based dashboard summarizes key performance indicators, providing insight into referral data. eHealth Technologies staff take charge of gathering, digitizing, indexing, and delivering outside patient records or images to the hospital, avoiding what the company calls “empty folder syndrome”—in which a patient’s records aren’t procured in time for their first appointment with the clinician, wasting time and money. Under the new system, patient history will be obtained before the first visit, improving clinician workflow and the patient experience.

“At Massachusetts General Hospital we continually strive to deliver quality patient care while optimizing our clinician’s workflow,” said Melanie Cassamas, MHA, Program Director of the MGH/MGPO Referral Management Office. “Our goal has been to improve the continuity of care lifecycle while providing the best possible patient experience.”
