A new KLAS report suggests that health care providers perceive big-name business intelligence brands as the leaders in business intelligence offerings, but these brands’ lack of sufficient health care focus has left providers’ needs unfulfilled.

In the report, titled, “Business Intelligence Perception 2013: Who Will Lead the Fleet?,” providers emphasize that the inability of current offerings to encompass all of their needs is the primary reason the market lacks a clearly perceived leader.

Large vendors receive more attention than other players in this uncertain market, but health care-specific analytics vendors are catching up as providers increase their focus on health care content, functionality, and insight.

Vendors mentioned in this study include: Dimensional Insight, Explorys, Health Catalyst, IBM, McKesson, Microsoft, Oracle, OptumInsight, QlikTech, SAP, SAS, and Tableau.
