Cleveland-based Franklin & Seidelmann Subspecialty Radiology has acquired Apex Radiology, of Coral Springs, Fla., in a move to expand its teleradiology enterprise by offering final and preliminary nighttime interpretations.

Through the merger, F&S will welcome 25 more radiologists to its staff, bringing its employee total to more than 100 and its annual case volume to more than 800,000 final reports.

The transaction enables the teleradiology provider to introduce a new proprietary radiology workflow technology called AccuRad, a Web-based workflow portal that allows clients to manage report delivery through automated fax, online access or encrypted e-mail. Referring physicians will be able to view reports and images, and AccuRad allows for real-time status checking on reports.

Future enhancements will include online order entry and referral volume analytics.

F&S provides its national clientele with access to subspecialty radiology expertise in the areas of musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, body, cardiac, oncological, pediatric and breast MR imaging.
