Sharp HealthCare, a comprehensive healthcare delivery system based in San Diego, CA, has installed Apollo EPMM (Enterprise Patient Multimedia Manager), an enterprise imaging solution.
Dermatology and Gastroenterology are the first departments to roll out the new technology, with clinicians using it at multiple Sharp facilities. Other departments will soon follow suit as Sharp takes full advantage of Apollo EPMM’s interoperability capabilities to seamlessly share clinical multimedia between Apollo EPMM and Sharp’s other healthcare IT systems.
The organization conducted extensive research before selecting an enterprise imaging tool to meet their operational needs. Ultimately, Apollo EPMM was deemed the tool of choice for achieving the enterprise’s clinical multimedia and imaging outreach goals. Sharp clinicians are effectively accessing all clinical multimedia regardless of format within the clinical workflow to collaborate on patient care. With pictures, video, and audio as part of the clinical workflow, their clinicians are able to more effectively interact with and treat their patients.
Though full implementation is not yet complete, healthcare IT leaders at Sharp are pleased with the progress and the teamwork of multiple parties involved. “Implementing Apollo EPMM enables us to provide a truly patient-centric view for every specialist and provider across our large healthcare enterprise’” said Rick LeMoine, MD, Sharp HealthCare CMIO. “The first stage of the rollout went remarkably smoothly given all the moving parts. Apollo staff were dedicated to making the project a success. They supplied innovative solutions when we hit a snag, even if Apollo EPMM was not the cause. This was a true team of Sharp personnel and Apollo and multiple vendors.”
