Carestream Health, of Rochester, NY, has announced that it has commenced shipments of its wireless, cassette-size digital radiography (DR) detector.

According to the company, health care organizations from around the world began placing orders several months ago for the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, developed for general radiology, trauma, orthopedic and other x-ray exams. The company plans immediate shipments to customers in Australia, Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States.

“Customer response to our innovative wireless detector has been outstanding—and our manufacturing, distribution and support teams are in full swing,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health. “Healthcare providers are very interested in this system as it offers an extremely attractive option for facilities that want to improve productivity and image quality in existing film or CR rooms, but may not have funds available for larger scale equipment replacement.”

Incorporating a console and a wireless, cassette-sized DR detector, the DRX-1 System aims to provide a quick, affordable conversion for users of radiographic film or computed radiography systems. It does not require any modifications to existing analog equipment.
