51-inch Cassette for Orthopedic Imaging

Konica Minolta Medical Imaging (Wayne, NJ) recently introduced its 51-inch cassette assembly for use in orthopedic imaging. The 14- x 51-inch cassette can provide digital captures of the full leg or full spine of patients taller than 6 feet 6 inches?with a single exposure. The extra-long cassette works by overlapping three CR plates, which, after imaging, are inserted onto 51-inch cassettes for scanning by the CR reader. Designed for use with the Xpress and IQue CR systems, the images captured by the cassettes can be turned into a composite by Konica Minolta?s stitching software. The company also offers a wall-mounted cassette holder of the same length. As with the company?s 42-inch cassette, the 51-inch cassette features a built-in grid with a 10:1 ratio, 178 line pair per inch, and a focal distance between 60 and 90 inches.

Nuclear Cardiology Scanner

New from Spectrum Dynamics Ltd (Orangeburg, NY) is the D-SPECT nuclear cardiology system, now featuring BroadView imaging technology. This technology provides improved resolution by collecting photons using larger angles to acquire patient data up to 10 times faster than a conventional system with twice the resolution, the company claims. A dedicated rapid camera for functional dynamic imaging of myocardial perfusion and absolute blood-flow measurements, the D-SPECT offers a reduction in radiation dose by using a lower dose of radiopharmaceutical without sacrificing image quality. It also offers simultaneous imaging of a combination of radiopharmaceuticals for an ultrafast simultaneous dual-isotope stress/rest study. Spectrum Dynamics expects FDA 510(k) approval on the D-SPECT this summer.
