binarycode_click-2Agfa Healthcare showcased new image-sharing capabilities at the Health Information and Management Systems Society meeting in Chicago last week.

The company announced the launch of its new clinical portal, providing clinicians with enhanced image and results delivery. The Web-enabled portal seeks to make available a patient-centric overview of information from different sources to a variety of stakeholders inside and outside the hospital. In addition, it offers a comprehensive road map, supporting an exchange of key information among patients and care delivery organizations, among others.

Under a Patient View dashboard, patients will have access to their own images, results, and other aggregated information, such as lab results, and share them securely with other doctors. Agfa hopes not only to support hospitals in increasing patient loyalty but also to empower and satisfy patients while enhancing collaboration among caregivers, including referring physicians.

Supporting Continuity of Care Document and Continuity of Care Record stands, the vendor-neutral platform can be accessed and used from a desktop or mobile device, with native mobile interfaces for Google Android and Apple iPhone devices.

“Integrated care is becoming a reality, and Agfa HealthCare’s Portal is, in a way, a gateway to the EHR,” said Joerg Schwarz, Global Business Development Director at Agfa HealthCare. “It already offers hospitals considerable cost savings and organizational advantages, such as reducing redundant testing. But it is also part of a broader vision and road map for the future.”

The portal can be installed at the healthcare institution or hosted by Agfa via a service level agreement with the hospital.

Furthermore, the company launched an integrated enterprise content management (ECM) system, aiming to streamline care-centric document workflows throughout the health system.

Making its North American debut at Lennox and Addington County General Hospital (LACGH), the system is designed to facilitate the capture, archiving, access, and sharing of any types of documents outside of the imaging scope across the hospital.

The vendor-neutral integrated ECM enables any facility to archive their paper-based and electronic documentation, such as diagnostic findings, modality printouts, microfilms, invoices, and other administrative records. Benefits include reduced physical archiving space, convenient Web-based information retrieval across the enterprise, and decreased risk of lost or destroyed patient information. Agfa developed the solution specifically for healthcare environments and their existing clinical systems in order to promote a clinically rich “visual healthcare infographic” of each patient, according to the company.
