USTeleradiology (UST) has announced that in December 2013 it was selected by a San Francisco-based, multi-facility hospital network that includes NorthBay Medical Center, VacaValley Hospital, and the Solano Diagnostic Imaging Centers in Fairfield and Vacaville, Calif to provide radiology services. Now in the third month of the agreement, UST has reported a 10% increase from 2013 volumes.
Services began in March 2014 following a RFP process and nationwide search. According to Dante Tolbert, NorthBay’s assistant vice president of operations, “UST made the RFP, negotiation, and implementation process easy and enjoyable. UST’s CEO Dr. Frank Ferraro, COO Mark Stevens, and CIO Jerry Burns were onsite and in communication with their office-based operations managers throughout the implementation, which was seamless.”
In addition to overall growth, the onsite staffing has increased to include an interventional radiologist, as well as the facility’s first female radiologist, specializing in pediatric and women’s imaging. According to UST, “according to all the stakeholders…there is complete consensus that UST has improved the quality and delivery of radiology services at NorthBay Healthcare.”
“Being a Joint Commission-accredited entity, UST has honed its ability to provide its partners with detailed, relevant quality data,” said UST’s CEO, Frank Ferraro, MD. “Teaming with our hospital clients, we establish performance metrics and we document our delivery. The process is transparent and our clients and practice partners have come to rely on this information. As we transition into the age of accountable care and performance-based compensation models, the ability to measure, document, and improve patient outcomes will be key.”
