September 4, 2007—The American College of Radiology (ACR), Reston, Va, recently submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the proposed 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS).
The ACR urged CMS to revisit several aspects of the proposed rule, including malpractice values, budget neutrality, resource-based practice expense relative value units, practice expense per hour, Relative Value Update Committee recommendations, additional codes from the five-year review, IDTF requirements, physician quality reporting initiative; and changes to reassignment and self-referral rules.
CMS will address comments received on the proposed rule in the 2008 MFS Final Rule, which will be published in November. To read the ACR’s comments in full, click here.
