In the pursuit of advancing the radiology profession, the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) today announced they are exploring avenues for collaboration that would benefit members of both organizations.

According to the societies, the potential relationship would seek to leverage the best services and offerings from both organizations to better meet the needs of radiologists and medical physicists. Leaders of both organizations are in the process of dialogue to evaluate the feasibility and scope of such a partnership.

To allow the process to move forward, during the ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference (AMCLC) 2008, the ACR Council passed Resolution 28F, which approved minor adjustments to ACR bylaws. Changes outlined in the resolution would not take effect without a written memorandum of understanding (MOU) from the ACR and ARRS.

Both organizations will continue to update members and radiology stakeholders regarding the status of this alliance.
